Put a Spring in your Social Media Success

Put a Spring in your Social Media Success

With Spring fast approaching, the promise of longer, lighter days, renewed optimism and growth is in the air. I love this season, as it’s all about new beginnings, reawaken and feeling good about moving forwards. So, how do you infuse this feel-good season into your social media? With a good ol’ Spring clean of your social media pages!

Review…

Now’s a good time to look at all of your social media pages and other marketing streams, such as website and online directories, to see what’s doing well, what could be better and what isn’t going to work moving forwards.

Consider these questions when reviewing your social media pages;

  • Is the main image still relevant? I.e. cover photo on Facebook page?
  • Is all my contact and about information correct?
  • Are any pinned posts outdated?
  • Is there any particular content that has done better? What was it that made it different? Image, Call-To-Action button/link, tone or message, time of posting?
  • Have you checked all post engagement on Facebook to confirm if they ‘like’/ follow your page? If not, a simple ‘invite to like page’ is easy to do.
  • When was the last time you looked at your page Insights? These reportage tools gives you a great indication of your strengths and weaknesses.

 Rejuvenate…

Spend some time looking at your brand’s presence. Does your logo and image style still reflect who you are and what you do? I love using graphic design tools such as Canva to create social media visuals. Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Facebook are constantly rolling out new updates and recommendations. For example, new grid dimensions on Instagram (4:5 aspect ratios).

Instagram is heavily visual, so you can really go to town on creating a brand identity that is unique and reflects your personal style. Use vibrant, high-quality images, videos, and graphics to capture attention. Whether you’re creating a Story, Reel or Image, try and use a consistent template so your brand identity is built up with followers. Certain shapes, colours and styles can all be remembered. Ever played the Logo game? Your brain will recognise hundreds of brands just by the colour and style. Great marketing at work!

If you’re happy with your current style, consider shaking up what types of content you share. For example, more carousel posts, stories, reels or live videos to boost engagement. And don’t forget to engage your followers with interactive content such as polls, quizzes, and open-ended questions at the end of your post.

Keep an eye on current trends and incorporate them into your posts. This could be popular hashtags, challenges, or viral content.

Finally, leverage UGC (user-generated content) to build trust and brand loyalty on your socials. If your customers have shared content that is relevant to you, or mentions you, give it a share! This helps to create a sense of community.

Radiate

To help your business shine and stand out from the crowd, follow a marketing strategy that works.

  • Understand your audience: What platforms do they use, what time of day and what tone of voice would engage them most? Research their ‘pain points’ to see where your products/services will resonate with them most.

  • Create engaging content: It goes without saying… but how do you do this I hear you ask. Plan, post, review and repeat. Plan what you’re going to say, when and where, review how it went and tweak accordingly. Use your social media insights to elevate your strategy and do more of what’s working, and less of what’s not. Don’t forget to use a variety of formats, such as carousel posts or reels.

  • Schedule content: When you understand when your audience is online, you can automate this task. Schedule content when your followers are most active online according to day and time. This will save you time in the long run… and give you your evenings back if your customers are most active at night.

  • Take advantage of trending days: For example, Popcorn Lover’s Day or World Photography Day. But ONLY if it is relevant to your business or the content that you’re sharing.

  • Stay consistent with your branding: Develop a style and stick to it. Fine tune it over time, but don’t be tempted to keep changing it. People like familiarity. They want to get to know you as a business.

  • Delegate your social media planning: Make this part of someone’s job, or really dedicate time in your diary to plan and execute an effective social media strategy. Don’t be tempted to just ask your teams as and when to post something. Choose one person to work with you to not only post content, but reply to followers, monitor activity and report monthly.

A successful social media strategy is simply one that takes time to understand your audience, evolve with the times and keep on a steady track. Review your progress this Spring, rejuvenate those profiles and let your business radiate online. Happy Spring cleaning!
